U11 – Matt Frey
Matt Frey grew up in Maryland where he was a standout player at North Caroline High School. After finishing a remarkable High School career, he then stepped into the college level where he attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. There, Matt continued his success in becoming a Three-Time Commonwealth Conference Second Team recipient as well as a One-Time Commonwealth Conference First Team member. Between 1999 and 2006, Matt played club soccer for Concord Roma out of Wilmington, DE, where he helped lead the team to the Eastern Regional Tournament 6 times by winning the Delaware State Cup 6 out of his 7 years. In 2007 and 2008 Matt was part of the Atlantic City Diablos, as they challenged for the Eastern Conference Title in the National Premier Soccer League. Matt also competed in the Bajan Summer Games 2008, in Barbados, where he represented Team USA. Matt has worked under Matt Driver as a staff coach for the last 5 years and holds a USSF E license and is currently working on attaining his USSF D License.
U12 – Barry Lynch
Barry is a Welsh native, he was a full time player with Newport County’s Professional Academy where he gained first hand experience of the day to day running of a professional soccer club, both from a playing aspect but also as a coach. Whilst at Newport County Barry was given the opportunity to train the Newport County Soccer school of excellence at the age of 17 where his love for coaching began. Barry came to the US in 2005 and has coached all over the east coast for the last 4 years, along with his experience in America Barry has played and coached at a high level in Britain representing his countrywhilst at Newport County and coaching with English Championship club Cardiff City as an Academy Coach. Barry holds a UEFA B License, FA Level 1 License, Brazilian National Futbol C License, NSCAARegional Diploma. His Philosophy is that “Every player regardless of age and ability can be developed in soccer and in their life skills”.
U13 - Matt Driver
For almost 15 years, Matt Driver has blazed a path in the field of player education and development in the U.S. Matt has developed age-appropriate training programs for both the individual youth player and youth teams. He has implemented successful team tactics at the minor league level, with the South Jersey Barons professional soccer team, formally of the USL Pro League. There he won several conference titles, a Regular Session National Title and an appearance at the National Championship, making Matt the most successful team coach in the country at the USL Pro Level.
More recently, Matt was the First Assistant Coach with the MLS’ New England Revolution. He took the team from last place in the Eastern Conference to Eastern Conference Champions. They then went on an amazing run in the MLS Cup, only to lose out to Los Angeles in a thrilling, overtime Championship game in front of 62,000 screaming New England fans at Gillette Stadium. A former professional player with Bury Football Club, formerly of the English Third Division, and Burnley Football Club, formerly of the English Fourth Division, Driver also enjoyed a stint with S. C. Herford, formerly of the Second Division of the German Bundesliga. In addition, he played in the United States with the Albany Capitals and the Boston Bolts both of the American Professional Soccer League.
The Glasgow, Scotland, native has also served as Technical Director and Chief Operating Officer for the South Jersey Barons. He holds a USSF “A” License, an NSCAA Premier License, and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. In addition, he carries a Brazilian “A” License and a Scottish Football Association A-I License. He has also served as a State Director of Coaching for the NSCAA for the State of Delaware and Director of Olympic Development Program for the State of Delaware.
U14 – Stuart Gore
Stuart Gore brings his professional playing experience to the Atlantic Soccer Factory. As a player, Stuart was part of the youth team with Leeds United, helping them to win the FA youth cup. He has also represented the England national team at u16 and u17 level. Stuart then attended college here in the states at the University of Montevallo, after which he return to pro soccer with UD Lorca of the 2nd division in Spain. As a coach Stuart has been coaching with Luton Celtic soccer club and AFC Dunstable, where in 2007 he was given the position of “Head of Coaching and Player Development”. Stuart also served as the vice chairman of the Dunstable schools soccer league in which his team won back to back titles in 2006 and 2007, winning the league cup in 2007. He holds a UEFA B license, Level 2 in Futsal coaching and is a native of Dunstable, England.
U15 – Wayne Grocott
Wayne Grocott provides ASF with great depth and international experience, with a terrific winning tradition. He has been a Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) head coach for the past three seasons. He began his WPSL coaching career in 2006 when he was named the Head Coach of the expansion Northampton Laurels. During the Laurels inaugural season, he guided the franchise to a second place finish in the Southern Division of the Eastern Conference and a berth in the WPSL playoffs. In 2007, Wayne moved over to direct the Philadelphia Liberty to a 3rd-place finish in the WPSL’s Eastern Conference – Mid-Atlantic Division.
Wayne has also served as the Head Coach of the Ocean City Barons team (USL/PDL) in 2005 – moving over from their women’s side, the South Jersey Banshees. Wayne directed the Banshees, in their inaugural season of 2001, to a second-place finish and berth in the conference finals. From there, Wayne moved to the Cape Code Crusaders (USL/PDL) in a supporting role for a successful 2002 season before returning to the Barons/Banshees in their undefeated 2003 season . While with the Barons/Banshees, Wayne also directed teams in their youth academy. Wayne has extensive coaching experience in the US and UK. Wayne has coached for the professional team Barnet FC of the English Soccer League Division 2 for their Football in the Community Scheme and also for Norwich City FC of the English Championship League in their School of Excellence. During his playing career – which lasted 14 years – Wayne trained with Brentford (currently Division 2 in the English League) and with Cambridge United FC (currently Blue Square Premier division of the Football Conference).
Wayne holds a UEFA “B” Coaching License, a USSF “B” Coaching License, and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He will be taking his USSF “A” License in 2010. He is a native of the North of England but lived in North London for 20 years. Wayne and his wife, Kristina, reside in Sicklerville, NJ.
